Northwest Forest Plan Monitoring
In response to the timber battles in the Pacific Northwest in the 1980s and 90s, federal land management agencies developed a broad-scale management approach for all federal lands within the range of the Northern Spotted Owl. A component of the approach is long-term monitoring, overseen by the Interagency Regional Monitoring Program. We have been working to develop maps of yearly forest disturbance (harvest and fire) for the entire area.
